Sprint to rollout WiMax to Chicago

The Chicago Tribune confirmed what I had been hearing for the last month or so. They are going to WiMax Chicago! Now I'm not trying to get too excited, because I don't know the range of the service. WiMax can supposedly have quite a large range. But if I can't use it at home too then its probably not going to be worth it for me.

I don't know what kind of hardware they are going to provide either. For instance, will I get a WiMax enabled phone with bluetooth to connect, or will it be just a usb device or Express card (I don't have PCMCIA anymore)? If its a phone and it can also include the existing Sprint Power Network then I'm in!

I already use Sprint's Power Network all the time with my phone. Its a crappy Samsung A920. The wireless web access on the phone goes on the fritz everytime I use bluetooth to dial out to the internet. The only way to get the wireless web access back is to factory reset the phone (doesn't lose data, but all my settings have to be reset). Sprint is too clueless to figure out anything with it. But I digress.

WiMax = good! I hope it truly can compete with other broadband services in the area. Perhaps ATT and Comcast would offer better pricing with a little competition? Time will tell.
